Call 911 to report a death. Usually an ambulance or county sheriff will arrive. The emergency response team will confer with the coroner or medical examiner. Depending on the circumstances of the death, this authority may require the deceased to be delivered into their custody.
Once this emergency response team has pronounced death, they will ask if you have made arrangements with

a funeral service provider to transport the deceased.

If hospice is involved, simply have the hospice worker call us when they are ready.
